You deserve to feel better
I feel better! I was referred to Dr. Winchell from a friend. She had been going to Dr. Winchell for a couple of months and has since told everyone about him. I listened to her detail her pain and her healing as we sat and enjoyed dinner....and I drove over the next day to meet Dr. Winchell. I had been experiencing unexplained back pain. I also have plantar's fascitis and just learned to deal with it. With regards to my back, I would try standing up from a sitting position and sometimes get stuck wondering if I should stand up or sit down or just stay stuck for a minute. My foot was tender to step on every single morning and for hours after I play tennis. I was immediately impressed that Dr. Winchell takes his own x-rays. Who does that? He does! I returned the next day to discuss the results and a treatment plan. I have made regular visits ever since and I am happy I did. The laser therapy and ice have made a big difference in my daily life. I am no longer crouching in pain or stuck wondering what my next movement should be. The days of tender first steps in the morning are far and few between. My dad is going now. He has endured 30+ years of major degenerative back pain No one has been able to relieve his pain so he was skeptical about trying something new. I convinced him to go and he is the first patient they see most days. He is a believer, but even more he is feeling better than he has in years. My son has visited Dr. Winchell for sports related injuries too. He was pleasantly surprised that the treatment was better than he imagined. He was unsure at first, but was confident about the treatment after his first visit. Dr. Winchell is friendly, welcoming and listens. He will ask you every time "So what's going on? What hurts?" He is passionate about chiropractic and is most concerned with healing. He is honest and upfront. He will tell you if he cannot help you. He spends lots of time with you to explain the x-rays, discuss treatment options and answer questions. He is very hands on from the moment you take a x-ray to laser treatment to cold therapy. I've tried Chiropractic a couple different times and this is different than the cracking adjustments that make you a little nervous. Judy and Carlene are cheerful and positive and take interest in your well being. They are informative and concerned. They are flexible and want to make sure everyone who needs to be treated can be treated. They are also very coordinated from head to toe :) I highly recommend if you have pain that is unexplained, prolonged or debilitating. You deserve to feel better. Kelley M. Ladera Ranch
Headaches, Menstrual Cramps, Allergies
You had asked me to write a few comments to your future and existing patients since I have had some amazing results since my first visit on January 14, 2003. I was referred by a coworker and patient of yours regarding a body alignment or adjustment rather than liposuction. Late May of 2000, I had corrective surgery on a very large grotesque scar on my lower left side that was performed when I was 2 ½ years old. I was diagnosed with Hemangiona and had two surgeries. This scar was not enlarged with sun spots and chicken pox scars. Months after the new surgery, I was dissatisfied with the shape of my left side. That is, my waistline on my left side before surgery had a curve and now it had become straight and sold. The surgeon who performed this surgery said that in a year the left side would drop down. He suggested using home remedies to soften the left side including massaging the skin with cocoa butter. After a year from the surgery, there was no difference or change in appearance. After a couple of years, the surgeon suggested surgery in the lower abdomen to balance the other side. However, surgery would not be my first choice. I also looked into liposuction and almost made my first appointment until I called your office for a consultation. Upon my initial consultation with you I only had the body alignment concern since my hips appeared unaligned when I looked in the mirror at home. As you reviewed my x-rays you noted that there were more serious concerns. Yes, my left side showed a slight difference from the right side, but more importantly, my spine on my back was severely curved along with a curve on my neck. During the exam, I mentioned I had severe headaches from stress, food and pollen allergies for no apparent reason and severe menstrual cramps with headaches which I used Aleve to relieve every month. You suggested a program to achieve relief from cramps, headaches, and body concerns. I had never been to a Chiropractor until now. Since my visits, I rarely have any headaches. My body shape on the left side has changed slightly that there is a difference. My last menstrual cycle had no cramping and was shorter. I have much more energy as well. You have a special healing quality with a witty and wonderful sense of humor that will make any patient feel at ease in your care. Your directness and honesty, wealth of knowledge, deep awareness and concern has kept me a patient for future maintenance. My fears and stress are minimal thanks to you, Dr. Stein. Diana R.
Mid-Back Pain
Dear Dr. Lubin – I just wanted to send you this note as a commentary and a praise of your recent treatments. As you know, I am an avid bodybuilder and motorcycle rider. After years of heavy lifting at the gym with seemingly improper form and numerous thousands of hard miles on the road, on my motorcycle, I started experiencing nonstop piercing rhomboid pain and intermittent numbness in my extremities. I had tried numerous other methods to alleviate the back pain, mainly regular massages, to no avail. I refused to live with these obviously abnormal symptoms. The next step was to use painkillers, and frankly that was not really an option. I just wanted to enjoy the hobbies I loved pain-free… After regular visitation with you, over the past month or so, my rhomboid pain has virtually disappeared. You have been so insightful as to my thoracic vertebrae being misaligned and subsequently causing me all of the pain I was experiencing. I am sure with continued treatment, I will be able to enjoy the activities I love, without any residual pain. Thank you so much! Regards, Erik D.
Anxiety Symptoms
One year ago I began experiencing extremely worrisome symptoms. I was having blurred vision, extreme sensitivity to bright lights, tingling/ numbness in both my hands and feel, and difficulty breathing. When my doctors couldn’t determine what was causing my symptoms they diagnosed me with anxiety disorder. Even though I explained to my physicians that there was nothing abnormally stressful going on they told me that my symptoms were consistent with anxiety disorder. So I was put on anxiety medications which only made me loopy and didn’t help. Due to my condition I was not able to concentrate on my work. I had times where I was too discombobulated to go out with my friends and was afraid to participate in the recreational activities I enjoy such as softball and tennis. After 10-12 months of continued symptoms I realized when I bent me head and neck to the left my symptoms would lessen. It occurred to me that maybe something in my neck was out of place. I called your office and found the staff to be exceptionally nice. Dr. Lubin gave me a thorough examination and confirmed that there were vertebrae out of alignment in my neck, upper back and in addition a misaligned left shoulder. I began to have treatments several times per week and sure enough my symptoms started to disappear. Dr. Lubin explained to me what positions to sleep in at night and eventually gave me exercises to stretch and strengthen the problematic areas. I am back doing everything I want to do and don’t have any more worries about these symptoms returning. I am so pleased I found you and you were able to correct the subluxations causing my symptoms. I was so relieved that somebody was able to help me instead of being told my symptoms were all in my head. Thank you so much! Ian R.
Chiropractic and Pregnancy
I have been a patient of Dr. Stein for four years. Having had chronic back pain since I was 18 years old, (I am now 33) and having been treated by other Chiropractors to no avail-I consider it one of my luckiest moments when I happened upon Stein Chiropractic in the yellow pages. My treatment has been successful and my back was feeling great. When I found out I was pregnant last February, I had concerns about how my back would handle my little bundle of joy accompanying me in my belly for nine months. I also had concerns about if chiropractic care was appropriate during pregnancy. Dr. Stein was very receptive and explained to me that he had treated many pregnant women and that he would gladly add me to his list. In the beginning, my adjustments varied only slightly and were keeping me pain free. As my pregnancy progressed and my belly grew bigger and bigger, I would waddle into the office and Dr. Stein would not even flinch. He simply opened up the table a little wider each time and managed to accommodate me, and my protruding belly, with no problem. Each time I left, I thought to myself how does he do it? At the very end of my pregnancy, when I would visit Dr. Stein, I was very uncomfortable due to carrying an oversized “beach ball” under my shirt. I was not as limber and was very uncomfortable lying on my beach ball sized belly. I expressed to Dr. Stein that I didn’t think I could lie on my belly to be adjusted anymore. “Have no fear Momma. We can help”, said Dr. Stein. He simply adjusted me in a different manner while I was sitting up and would successfully adjust me, yet again. My husband (who is also a patient of Dr. Stein) and I now have a 5 month-old son who accompanies us to our visits. Jackie G. 2001
Migraine Headaches
I would like to tell you how much I appreciate Chiropractic care and how it has changed my life. I am 23 years old and for as long as I can remember, I have suffered from migraine headaches. From the age of about five when I started going to school, I started getting up to three migraines a month. I would get a migraine and each one would last for about three days, which means I would be suffering from a migraine nine days every month. During these days, I was unable to do a lot of things; read, study, drive, sleep, eat, be happy, etc. I did not want to go outside because the light and any noise was torture and I would not perform other activities because the medication I was taking would make me dizzy and “drugged”. During a migraine episode, the only thing I could do was lie in a dark room with no light and absolutely no noise with a cold compress on my face and head. It was either suffer from the migraine pain of nausea and intense pain in my head and eyes or suffer from the effects of medication. About four months ago, I started going to Dr. Stein for pain in my neck and upper back. I had no idea that Chiropractic care could do anything for migraines. I thought someone would have told me by now, either a doctor, parent, or friend. In the last four months, I have had only one migraine that lasted for only one day! I have not taken my medication in over four months and have no intentions of needing to take it ever again! If I had not gone to Dr. Stein, I would have suffered approximately 356 days in the last four months and instead of a neurologist (looking for brain tumors), they could have spared me the pain and suffering of 23 years. At least now, I know how wonderful it is to wake up and live each day without worrying about whether or not I’ll get a migraine. I can now go out for the day without bringing medication and I can now sleep throughout the night, every night without pain. I am very grateful for Dr. Stein’s help and I feel like what he has done for me is a miracle. Kate B.
Chronic Pain
Dr. Cheryl Lubin is a true professional. I experienced chronic pain in my leg for about 6 years. Prior to seeing Dr. Lubin, I went to an orthopedic surgeon twice, physical therapy and acupuncture - none of that worked. Her non invasive techniques have gently removed the pain to the point where I can complete in triathlons again. Also, she is punctual, I never wait when I arrive and she has a great attitude to wanting to help others. If you are in pain, I suggest asking Dr. Lubin to help you. Kathleen M.
Chronic Fatigue, Cluster Headaches
I would like to share my story with you. I’m Dr. Stein’s C.A. and Chiropractic has truly changed my life. I am so happy to be here today because one year ago, I was suffering from fatigue and a weak immune system so terrible that physical exertion of any type would leave me bedridden the following day with excruciating body/muscle pain, cluster headaches, and often times make me sick (I’m had pneumonia four times in the last three year). Because I could not exercise, my weight began to go up and up. Medical doctors had no answers for me. They would prescribe pain medications that would relieve the problem, but did nothing to prevent it from happening again. They couldn’t even give me a definitive answer as to what was wrong with me. Their best effort at diagnosing me was telling me that I was depressed and putting me on antidepressants. My physical condition got so bad that I had to quit my job as a retail manager because the fatigue was making it impossible for me to carry on. That’s when fate brought me to Dr. Stein. I began working for Dr. Stein about eleven months ago and it didn’t take him long to determine that I needed some Chiropractic help. We started treatment right away. In less than a month, the cluster headaches and body pain had subsided entirely and I began to have more energy that I’d had in years. Little by little, my life was returning to me. Eventually, I decided that it was time to try exercising again. I was hesitant and nervous at first that I would end up right back where I had started, but nothing could have been further from the truth. Now, I’m back to exercising regularly and I look forward to my workouts. I’m not afraid of life anymore. Before I started working with Dr. Stein, I knew nothing about Chiropractic and the impact it can have on your overall health. Since, I’ve learned that spinal health is about more than just back pain, it’s about a body that functions at 100% of its ability. If I had known before that Chiropractic could have helped me to live the healthy, happy life that I’m living now, I would have sought help many years ago. I share this story with you because I know that there are many people out there that are in the same predicament I was in and may feel hopeless. The medical community may have left them feeling that nothing can help and that their problem is just something that they will have to learn to live with. I’m here to tell you it’s not! If I can educate people about the health benefits of Chiropractic and can help change another person’s life, then hopefully they will carry on and help someone they know. I am here today because of Dr. Stein and Chiropractic and for that I am so very thankful! Krista B.
Back Pain, Neck Pain, Headaches
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for the help that you have given me over the past several months in bringing healing to my back and neck. Prior to coming to see you in November of 2002 I had been in quite a bit of pain in my neck and back and was not really sure if anything could be done. For the most part, I had gotten used to the fact that when I woke up in the morning that my neck was stiff and that I usually had a headache to go along with the stiff neck. The thing that I really appreciate is how you approached treatment. I thought I would show up at your office you would adjust my back and I would be on my merry way. The explanation that you gave me up front of how the process would work was very helpful and helped to ease any anxiety that I may have had about chiropractic treatment. I had been coming to see you on a regular basis since November 2002 and it is a great feeling to not have the pain and discomfort in my back and neck. Sometimes I will be going about my day and thing WOW my back is not hurting. This is the first time in years that I have had this much flexibility in my neck that I can turn my neck from side to side and not feel a tightness and discomfort. Thank you very much for your professional, caring manner and for making me feel welcome and comfortable each time I came to the office for a treatment. I also appreciate the professionalism, yet friendliness of your staff. Maria A.
Asthma, Allergies
I was diagnosed with asthmas at age two. I was in and out of the hospital throughout my childhood. I was unable to play sports or be outside for any length of time without my rescue inhaler on hand. As I got older, I began running simply for exercise. I enjoyed it so much that I began competing in a few short races. However, I always needed to stop and walk and take a dose of albuterol. I began chiropractic treatment for my mild back pain. However, during my initial exam, Dr. Stein informed me that chiropractic could also help my asthma and seasonal allergies. I was skeptical, but my back pain was immediately reduced with my first adjustment, so I stayed with my treatment program. Soon, I noticed that I had more energy, and could run a longer distance without medicating myself. Also, during August and September of that year my allergies were much less significant than they normally were during ragweed season. After three months, I took a leap of faith: I went off all my medications. I have now been off all medications for over three years. I run five or six races per year; most recent being ten miles in length. I’m now training for a half marathon, and one day hope to tackle a full marathon. While I don’t set any speed records, this sport has given me joy and self confidence that I did not have in my younger years. I am very grateful to Dr. Stein for this gift. Mary P.
Chronic Pain
Dr. Cheryl Lubin is one of the most thorough, dedicated, and professional medical practitioners I have know in my life. I have had appointments twice a week for one year, and her careful diagnosis and conservative treatment plan has alleviated chronic pain I experienced for 16 years. When I was 12 years old, I was diagnosed with hyerkyphosis and hyperlordosis. My x-rays showed abnormal curvature of the spine, and, as I got older, increasing evidence of osteoarthritis. When I was 22, one doctor jocundly told me, “You might look young, but your spine is 65 years old.” For most of the last 16 years, I experienced chronic pain that prevented me from focusing fully on my family, friends, school, and work. More often than not, I thought about my pain all day long. For many of these years, I took between 400 and 1200 mg. of ibuprofen every day. I simply couldn’t function without it. Between the ages of 12 and 27, I consulted with or was treated by 13 medical professionals for the pain in my neck, shoulders, and mid-back. These included several general practitioners, two nationally-renowned orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, and massage therapists. Dr. Lubin was the first of these practitioners to relieve my pain on a long-term basis. I knew she was concerned with long-term results when she spent the first, 45 minute appointment examining my spine, posture, and gait and taking x-rays. My grandmother, who was a family doctor, once told me that you can judge a doctor by how long they spend on their exam and questions. This certainly proved true with Dr. Lubin. I knew I was in the care of an experienced and professional diagnostician when she took the time to find the roots of my problems instead of haphazardly treating symptoms or dismissing my pain, as so many other doctors had done. These days, my pain is greatly alleviated and I often go through an entire day without thinking about my back. I sleep better and feel more flexible when I awake. I rarely take ibuprofen. I am happier and less anxious. My husband even says the worry lines on my forehead are disappearing! I am very grateful to Dr. Lubin & to her kind and organized staff. I wholeheartedly recommend this practice to anyone! Maureen B.
Pregnancy
I want to thank you for all that you have done. When I first came to you, I could barely walk and couldn’t sit or sleep at night. Here I was 3 months pregnant and in excruciating pain. I had been trying to sleep in a recliner for the past 3 weeks, but even so the pain would keep me awake. At first I was wary to see a chiropractor because of the severe pain, my physical limitations and plus the fact that I was pregnant. You felt you could help me and assured me your treatment would be very gentle. I decided to give it a try and yes the treatments were very gentle. After a couple of weeks I was moving about so much better and was off the recliner and back in my own bed. Thanks to you I was able to get through my pregnancy pain free and healthy. I don’t know what I would have done without you! My husband and I can’t thank you enough. Meredith E.
Disc Degeneration
During the spring of 2002, I began to feel growing pain and discomfort in my lower back. Sitting all day at work became increasingly uncomfortable. Nothing I tried seemed to give me relief, so I contacted Dr. Stein, who gave me a complete Chiropractic examination, which included spinal x-rays. As I remember it, his diagnosis included disc degeneration in my lumbar region. Within days after Dr. Stein began to treat my condition, I left on a rather long auto trip in which I foolishly did most of the driving. One morning, shortly after my return, without warning I suddenly began to lose feeling and motor ability in my right leg. It became more and more difficult just to move my leg! Within a matter of hours, I could no longer walk! My condition degenerated to such a degree that even sitting up caused intense sciatic pain to radiate down my right leg. An MRI test, to which I was transported on a stretcher by ambulance, showed a bulging lumbar disc, impinging on my sciatic nerve. I was bedridden for a week of rest and then began a period of physical therapy in which I felt like I was learning to walk all over again as a result of a slight “foot drop: in my right foot. At this time I resumed regular visits to Dr. Stein in the hope of strengthening and correcting my lumbar spine, sacrum, and pelvis, and, in that way, preventing another crisis. Since then, Dr. Stein has always been available when I need him, and his gentle manipulations have been a great success! Two years later, I am very happy to report that, despite the fact I am fast approaching retirement age, I have no sciatic pain; am able to hike in our National Parks, play tennis, and even join in an occasional game of pick-up soccer with much younger players! Of course, I still see Dr. Stein for what I call regular “preventive maintenance” adjustments. I am very grateful to Dr. Stein, personally, and to Chiropractic in general. Paul C.
Herniated Disc
Three months ago I began experiencing sharp lower back pain and thought it would go away. However, within a few days the pain had become so severe that I was bent over to the side. I was having horrible back spasms and shooting pains down my legs. Every movement caused me pain and my husband had to lift me out of bed and out of chairs. On top of that I had just discovered I was 6 weeks pregnant. I saw my Primary Care Physician who examined me and told me I had a herniated disc. She couldn’t take xrays or give me medication because of my pregnancy. She told me to just take bedrest and hopefully by not being on my feet the pain would go away. I knew that was not an option and I thought about consulting a chiropractor. Then, before I had even considered chiropractic care I contacted my Obgyn who said she highly recommended seeing a chiropractor to alleviate pain and to ensure a healthy pregnancy. Desperate to alleviate the pain and hoping to keep up with my 6 month old son I contacted Lubin Chiropractic. I was seen right away and greeted by wonderful staff. After Dr. Lubin examined me she confirmed the herniated disc diagnosis. She then patiently described what treatment would be necessary to help me feel better. I began feeling better right after my first treatment and then continued to feel better after each and every visit. Before I knew it I was back exercising in the gym, swimming, and taking my son on long walks. I am now almost 6 months pregnant and pretty much pain free. I am focusing on my healthy pregnancy and busy chasing my 9 month old. I can’t thank you enough. Sue T.
Sciatica
Dear Dr. Lubin, You did it once again. I feel fortunate to have been under your care for all these years. When I first came to you 15 years ago I had been suffering with chronic sciatica and even though I had seen other chiropractors for this problem it would just never go away. I felt so frustrated to be so young and to be limited in my activities because of this ongoing pain. I had heard about you and the Activator technique through a friend who said this technique was gentle, specific and had helped her a lot. Because I had had so much chronic pain I was very guarded and afraid to try another doctor and another technique. You made me feel very comfortable and were very reassuring about my findings and how you could help me. Well it worked. Your gentle Activator adjustments rid me of my chronic sciatica. You also helped educate me on the importance of wellness care. I found that regular chiropractic adjustments keel me feeling well and has become part of my “health” lifestyle. My job is extremely physical and as you know I am always tweaking something. Last week I overdid it on the job and woke up the next day with really bad lower back pain. I was having trouble walking, sitting or finding any comfortable position. I called your office immediately and made an appointment. Before you know it I was back to work doing what I would normally do. I can’t thank you and your staff enough for your continued support. I feel very fortunate to know I can count on you to keep me up and running, literally. Thanks again! Pete H.

Chiropractic and Pregnancy
Chiropractic And Pregnancy After my second visit, my baby was able to move around easier as he was far more active than usual. I am optimistic that the treatment is helping provide a better environment for my baby to flip around and not be in a breech!

I felt welcomed, valued and confident that care with Anunson Chiropractic will help me to optimize my health. Thank you!
Terrible Digestive Pain...No More!
Terrible Digestive Pain… No More! I’m Amy. My hips originally started hurting when I was in a car accident in 2001. The pain got worse during my pregnancy with our daughter. I started seeing a chiropractor in 2011 and I would also take ibuprofen for the pain. When my family and I moved to Madison in April, my hips were aching very badly. We needed to find a new chiropractor, so my husband found Anunson Chiropractic. I noticed an improvement after a couple adjustments. I can now walk with less pain. I never expected to start sleeping better, have fewer headaches or improve my digestion! My digestive system was so messed up after my car accident. I saw so many doctors, had multiple colonoscopies, endoscopies and I was put on Miralax – it was terrible! I would go from being really constipated to having diarrhea all the time. I hurt every time I ate and it didn’t feel normal. Dr. Anunson recommended that I take digestive enzymes in addition to my adjustments and it has been a tremendous help! My favorite thing about coming to Anunson Chiropractic is that I feel so much better!! I’ve told some members of my family that they should really see a chiropractor. If you’re considering chiropractic, go. Even if you don’t see progress right away, it’s worth it!
Accidental Activator Method Lover
Hi, I’m April. I first came to Anunson Chiropractic because I was looking to continue my chiropractic care; my in network provider changed with my insurance. I found this clinic just by looking on my insurance company’s website. My mom brought everyone in my family to the chiropractor as we needed it, so it has always been a part of my life. I’m passing on the same mentality to my kids to make it a part of their lifestyle. When I brought my daughters to Anunson Chiropractic, I noticed improvement after just one adjustment. I want to go the non-medicine route with them. It took longer for me to notice an improvement, but that’s to be expected since I’m older and have had more stress on my body over the years. In the past, I had a hard time with the common physical manipulation techniques that chiropractors use; it was so stressful. I was surprised to see how gentle and low force the Activator method is! After one allergy season, with getting adjusted, I didn’t get sick! I didn’t expect chiropractic to help with chronic illnesses like that! I’ve been burning the candle on both ends the past three months with a stressful lifestyle and I have not gotten sick this time around either! My daughters have not been sick like they’re used to and it’s rewarding to see that when I see other kids getting sick. Everyone is great at Anunson Chiropractic! It’s so relaxing and welcoming here. The flexibility is wonderful. My family has been very supportive since they’ve used chiropractic before and I have mentioned chiropractic to other friends and parents. I’ve offered the idea of chiropractic as an alternative way to treat & benefit whatever it is that person is going through. If you’re considering chiropractic, try it! We live in a society that wants instant results, so give it some time.

What conditions does chiropractic treat?
Although we help patients with a variety of conditions/complaints/symptoms, chiropractic doesn’t really "treat" conditions. Chiropractic produces results by helping the nerve system to work the way it should. Nerve impulses flow from the brain, down the spinal cord, to every organ and tissue of the body. Impulses sent back to the brain confirm that the body is working as it should (or not). The moving bones (vertebra) of the spine can interfere with this exchange. Misaligned vertebrae which choke or irritate nerves can degrade or distort these messages. This is called a subluxation. Without proper nerve system control and monitoring, ill health results. Adjustments to the spine using the Activator V restore normal nerve function which allows your body to work as intended. In most cases this results in improved health and well being.
What are some reasons patients come to us?
Some of the more common adults complaints that we have helped are: Neck Pain, Low back pain, Allergies, Asthma, Whiplash, Fibromyalgia, Headaches, Sciatica, Disc problems, Carpal tunnel syndrome and Sacro-iliac pain. Not only do patients get relief, but they quite often enjoy other unexpected benefits such as improved sleep, better concentration, and a better quality of life. Children respond well to adjustments, too. Some of the main reasons parents bring their children in are: Allergies, Ear infections, Chronic illness, Colds, Flu-like symptoms, Sports injuries, Too many missed school days and more. Every cell, organ, and tissue of the body is controlled by the brain and nerves. Chiropractic spinal adjustments improve nerve function throughout your body so you can enjoy your maximum quality of health.
Why do you use the Activator?
When I first began practicing I used almost every technique that was taught at Palmer. After about a year I noticed that the best results were coming with patients who received only Activator adjustments. Thus began the transition to being an "Activator only" chiropractor. Not only does the Activator get results, it is reliable, reproducible and backed by research. This combined with the standardized protocol gives me confidence to know that only needed adjustments were made and that your time and money were not wasted on unnecessary procedures.
What are your fee's?
Our fee's are straight forward and are the same across the board without regard to cash or type of insurance. The charge for a New Patient Exam is $70.00, X-Rays are either $50.00 or $100.00 and Spinal Adjustments are $40.00. Although we participate with many insurance plans and bill weekly, payment for your portion is expected at the time of service.
What types of services do you offer?
We provide chiropractic examinations, chiropractic manipulations and nutritional counseling services. We provide chiropractic manipulation to all ages from infants to the elderly. We also have vitamin supplements, biofreeze and essential oils for sale.
Will my insurance cover care from a chiropractor?
Most health insurance plans include coverage for chiropractic care and Whole Health Chiropractic is a provider for most major insurances. We'll check your benefits at your first appointment so you'll know up front what is covered.
What about Plantar Fascitis?
Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique can be very helpful for treating foot pain associated with plantar fascitis. There are diagnostic tests employed by Activator doctors which help us effectively treat the cause of plantar fasciitis.
I have heard that chiropractic can help bedwetting in children. Can chiropractic help this condition in my child?
Activator Chiropractic Technique is a safe approach to treating a variety children's health conditions. We look specifically at the neurological aspects of enuresis such as pelvic misalignment and sacral misalignment. Bed wetting is often caused by the nerves that exit the sacrum. Activator doctors are trained how to diagnose those misalignments and treat those comfortably for the child.
Is Activator as effective as manual adjusting.
Yes
Is chiropractic effective?
Chiropractic helps to remove postural imbalances and structural misalignments that can accumulate in our bodies over time. Chiropractic works by restoring your own inborn ability to be healthy. For your body to remain healthy, your nervous system must function well. For your nervous system to function well it must be free of interference. By restoring spinal function with Chiropractic adjustments, nerve interference by misaligned vertebrae is removed, thus allowing optimal nervous system function and improved health.
Why should I see a Chiropractor?
Seeing a chiropractor is not only for back pain and neck pain. Chiropractic care is an excellent way to keep your body at its peak performance through nutrition, adjustment and overall wellness. In addition, chiropractic care has been known to help a wide range of conditions from fibromyalgia to diabetes.
What is Subluxation?
When a vertebrae becomes misaligned or moves out of its normal position, this is referred to in the chiropractic profession as a subluxation. Subluxations can be caused by a wide range of issues ranging from a minor slip or bump to a car accident or any sudden trauma. When a vertebrae is subluxated, it begins to put pressure on nerves, blood vessels and everything around it. This pressure comes with a price. The subluxation interrupts the natural pathways that the messages sent from the brain need to be clear in order to be completed properly.
How does chiropractic care work?
Chiropractic is an overall way of looking at the human body. It's based on the idea that the body is self-sustaining and self-healing. The body is in essence completely controlled by the brain through its connection via the spinal cord and the vast networks of nerves that make up the body. When this system is not functioning at its peak, the overall performance of the human body is lacking.

The body is in essence completely controlled by the brain through its connection via the spinal cord and the vast networks of nerves that make up the body. When this system is not functioning at its peak, the overall performance of the human body is lacking. In the chiropractic world, drugs and medicine are not utilized as a form of treating a patient. While supplementation and nutrition are almost always a part of the bigger picture, drugs and prescriptions can be viewed as band-aids to treat symptoms rather than going to the source and treating the real problem. While it's often perceived that the chiropractor is solely here to treat back and neck pain, this is simply a small piece of what the profession really is capable of handling. Chiropractors not only treat soft and hard tissue problems such as sciatica and joint pain, but are largely called on to deal with more significant issues. Some of these issues include fibromyalgia, allergies, insomnia, headaches and many more.
What is a chiropractic adjustment? Is it safe?
Adjustments, or manipulation as they're sometimes referred to is the minor movement of vertebrae in the spine. The objective of this movement is to realign vertebrae that have moved out of place for a number of reasons ranging from normal daily activity to trauma such as a car accident. When these vertebrae are out of place, it has an overall systemic effect from muscular to the central nervous system. Without proper alignment and flow of all nerves and systems in the body from the brain, we can't function at our peak. An adjustment is often a pressure from the chiropractor utilizing the hands or an instrument (Activator) to move a vertebrae back into place. This happens with a quick movement and is often without discomfort. You may hear a noise that sounds like you're cracking your knuckles referred to as joint cavitation. It is the release of gases such as oxygen and nitrogen from the joint.
What can I expect from my visit to a chiropractor?
Going to the Chiropractor is a new experience for many of us. Maybe we've heard through a friend or have done some research online. It's possible that you are just fed up with living in pain and it's time to do something about it. In either case, your first visit to the chiropractor will really be about getting to know the chiropractor and discussing your history, current condition and goals.
What results can I expect from treatment?
Chiropractic is based on the idea of removing imbalances both structural and postural in an effort to allow our body to heal itself. For this to happen the network of nerves and signals from your brain, down your spinal cord, to the network of nerves must be allowed to flow freely without any interruption. Chiropractors have the ability and skill to remove these interruptions or misalignments and allow the body to perform as it was meant to. If you've ever been in a car accident, played a sport, fell down or just bumped into something too hard, it's very possible that you are not functioning at your best due to a misalignment. While there are many potential mechanical or structural causes for misalignment, there are also chemical reasons. For instance, if you smoke or drink excessively or even just have a poor diet, the chemical issues in your body can eventually cause underlying conditions and disease to appear. Allowing a chiropractor to get you back on track both chemically and structurally will bring your body back to the proper state it should be in to perform at its peak.

What do Chiropractors treat?
Doctors of Chiropractic (DCs) care for patients of all ages, with a variety of health conditions. DCs are especially well known for their expertise in caring for patients with back pain, neck pain and headaches…particularly with their highly skilled manipulations or chiropractic adjustments. They also care for patients with a wide range of injuries and disorders of the musculoskeletal system, involving the muscles, ligaments and joints. These painful conditions often involve or impact the nervous system, which can cause referred pain and dysfunction distant to the region of injury. The benefits of chiropractic care extend to general health issues, as well, since our body structure affects our overall function. DCs also counsel patients on diet, nutrition, exercise, healthy habits, and occupational and lifestyle modification.
Can a person who had surgery see a chiropractor?
Yes. It’s an unfortunate fact that up to half of those who had spinal surgery discover a return of their original symptoms months or years after the surgery was performed. They then face the prospect of additional surgery. This all too common occurrence is known as “Failed Back Surgery Syndrome.” Chiropractic care can be highly effective in managing this discouraging condition and may help prevent additional back surgeries. In fact, if chiropractic care is initially utilized, many times back surgery can be avoided altogether. The Activator instrument technique Drs. Rush use in these cases is very safe, even for spines that have undergone fusion and instrumentation.
What type of education do chiropractic doctors receive?
Chiropractic education is similar to a medical or osteopathic education. An undergraduate degree focusing on biological sciences is a prerequisite. This is followed by four (4) years of professional education at one of the 16 chiropractic colleges in the United States. The coursework requires mastery of in-depth knowledge in anatomy, physiology, human chemistry and function as well as an internship at an out-patient clinic associated with the college. The Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) graduates with a high level of clinical competence. After graduating, the candidates must pass the demanding four part National Board Examinations. Then, the chiropractic doctor must apply to their chosen state licensing board and pass another difficult test before being granted the privilege to practice. A chiropractor’s education, however, never ends. All states require doctors to complete regular postgraduate instruction each year for license renewal and to stay current on the latest research and treatment techniques.
What should I expect on my first visit?

We will also conduct a complimentary benefits check if you would like us to look into your insurance. The doctor will be able to determine if you have arthritis, disc degeneration, pathologies or a condition that may be contradictory to treatment.
What about my second appointment?
Your second appointment will be your report of findings. After the doctor has studied your history, exam, and x-rays, he will meet with you to discuss your condition and the recommended course of chiropractic care. A staff member will also sit down with you to discuss your insurance coverage and/or cash plans and expected payment arrangements. Your treatment program will then be specifically designed to meet your needs using safe and effective spinal adjustments, physical therapy and exercise.

Why did I chose the activator as my adjusting technique?
I love the activator technique for its precision of asking the body what is needing to be adjusted. This technique aligns the bones like all types of chiropractic adjustments but without the stress on the muscles. Therefore, making it easier for the body to adapt to the adjustment.
How long has the Activator technique been used by chiropractors?
The Activator technique was created in 1967, founded on the principles of clinical research. The number of licensed professionals trained in the Activator Method is approximately 150,000 worldwide. This makes it the most widely used low-force chiropractic technique in the world.
Why should I visit a proficiency rated chiropractor?
While many chiropractors use instruments to perform adjustments, few are sufficiently trained to use the Activator Methods Protocol, which goes hand-in-hand with the instrument itself. Using an instrument without a protocol is akin to baking without a recipe.
Who could benefit from an activator adjustment?
Everyone and all ages can benefit from an activator adjustment. It is safe for new borns to the elderly and great for all those in between ages.
Why do patients prefer the activator adjustment over other adjusting techniques?
Activator technique is very precise and allows the practitioner to get to the exact area that needs to be adjusted. It works with speed rather than force allowing less stress on the muscles.
Once I'm out of pain, why do I need to continue with adjustments?
Just like any program, it is good to maintain the progress and protect your investment you already made in your health.
Why do I need to keep coming back for adjustments?
Everybody heals at a different rate. It takes time for your body to repair and each adjustment builds on the next. Many times extra stressors need to be eliminated and we offer help for those through nutrition response testing program, massage and rehab. These additional services supports the body to achieve its optimal health.
Can shoulders, knees and feet be adjusted?
Absolutely. Activator technique is one of the few techniques that adjusts the entire body including the extremities.
What can I expect on my first visit?
When you arrive, our examination technician will greet you with a smile and show you around the office. You can fill out your paperwork in a private setting, and then we will discuss your history and what has brought you in. During your examination we perform a muscle scan to measure the electrical activity of your spinal muscles. The scan technology we use is a painless and non-invasive way of evaluating spinal health, utilizing well-established electrocardiogram technology with the MyoVision scanner. Dr. Swystun will then relate his findings to you, explaining the cause of your problems and how he thinks we can help you. You will get our best recommendations for a series of treatments. If you choose to begin, you will receive a chiropractic adjustment during your first visit.
How long can I expect to be there for my first visit?
You can expect to be there 45 minutes to 1 hour.
How much will it cost?
An initial visit will be $70. Any following visits will be $45 or $40 for those 18 and under.
How popular is the Activator Method?
The Activator Method is the world’s #1 instrument adjusting method. Instrument adjusting is now the second most common type of chiropractic manipulation.
Why do so many patients prefer the Activator Method?
It is a safe, gentle and effective alternative to the traditional ‘pop and crack’ approach to chiropractic care. The Activator instruments are calibrated to deliver a consistent, measured, gentle thrust that adjusts the skeleton without the pushing and twisting that some patients find frightening.
Is the Activator Method safe for older patients?
YES! Because the Activator Method delivers a pain-free, gentle thrust even patients suffering from osteoporosis (and other issues related to aging) can be safely and effectively adjusted.
What about kids? Is Activator safe for children?
Again, YES! We find that even squirmy youngsters often look forward to their Activator adjustments.
How do you know Activator is safe and effective?
The Activator Method has been the subject of scientific research that found it not only safe, but every bit as effective as other more traditional chiropractic methods. Activator offers the only instrument that has been the subject of 23 clinical trials, and is the only adjusting instrument that has been researched that way. More than 150 peer-reviewed scientific research articles have been written about the Activator Method and Activator Instruments.
Why does the doctor keep checking the length of my legs?
That’s the doctor’s way of ensuring the adjustment is complete and effective. The leg-length technique has also been heavily researched and found to be accurate and reproducible (meaning that many doctors can use the same technique and get the same result).
I noticed some doctors use other instruments for adjustments. Are those the same as Activator?
They are definitely NOT the same. Activator is the only instrument that has clinical trials that found it to be safe and effective. Be sure to ask for the Activator instruments and the Activator Method by name!
Will my insurance cover this?
Many insurance policies do cover Chiropractic care. When you call, we can help you determine what your coverage will be. We will bill your insurances directly.
What will my first visit be like?
The 1st visit is designed to determine the source(s) of your problem(s). A very thorough exam will be performed. At the end of the exam, Dr. Michaels explain she has found, and what can be done to resolve and stabilize those problems. That will include what Dr. Diane needs to do, and what You need to do to strengthen yoursefl now and fto maintain a healthier active lifestyle. Once your questions are answered, she will then proceed with your 1st Chiropractic treatment. Expect to start getting better!
